Certified for Voxware Voice Management System (VMS) · IP67 · Rated to -30 °C · Hot-swappable battery

The Zebra HS3100 is a rugged Bluetooth headset certified for Voxware’s Voice Management System, and it is the headset Zebra builds for voice-directed picking. It is sealed to IP67, rated to -30 °C for freezer work, pairs to a Zebra mobile computer with an NFC tap, and its battery hot-swaps mid-shift without breaking the Bluetooth pairing or the Voxware session.
Why the HS3100 suits voice picking
The headset is the part of a voice system a picker actually wears for eight hours, so it decides whether voice succeeds on your floor. It has to survive being dropped on concrete, sat on, and hosed down. It has to hear one person clearly over forklifts and conveyors. And it has to keep going when the shift runs long. The HS3100 is Zebra’s answer to all three, and unlike most enterprise headsets, Zebra markets it explicitly for voice-directed picking rather than for phone calls.
For Voxware, the part that matters most is the microphone. Voxware’s speech recognition runs on the device, and recognition accuracy depends on what reaches the microphone. The HS3100 uses a sealed noise-cancelling microphone on a 290° swivel boom with better than 10 dB of noise immunity, so the picker’s confirmations get through while the aisle behind them does not.
Built for voice, not for calls
Zebra positions the HS3100 for speech-driven warehouse applications, so the microphone and audio profile are tuned for recognition rather than telephony.
Freezer rated to -30 °C
Operates from -30 °C to +50 °C, the same range as the Zebra WT6300, so headset and computer are matched for cold-storage work.
Hot-swap battery, no re-pairing
The 220 mAh battery gives up to 15 hours of continuous speech and swaps out without dropping the Bluetooth pairing or the Voxware session.
Sealed to IP67
Dust-tight and immersion-rated, so it survives wash-down areas, condensation coming out of a freezer, and the occasional drop into a wet aisle.
Tap to pair
NFC tap-to-pair means a picker touches the headset to the mobile computer and is signed in, instead of hunting through Bluetooth menus at shift start.
Shared between shifts, hygienically
Ear pads, windscreens and headband pads are user-replaceable and the boom detaches, so one headset can be issued across shifts.
How the HS3100 is used with Voxware VMS
A picker taps the headset to a Voxware-certified Zebra mobile computer to pair it, puts it on over the head or behind the neck, and signs in to the Voxware client. From then on the headset is the whole interface: VMS speaks the location, item and quantity, the picker answers out loud, and a check digit or a ring-scanner scan confirms the pick. Nothing goes on a screen unless the picker asks for it.
Because the boom swivels 290° and auto-mutes when it is swung up, a picker can step out of a task to talk to a supervisor without the system hearing it as a confirmation — a small detail that prevents a surprising number of mis-picks.
Workflows Voxware customers run on it
- Each and case picking, where the headset carries every instruction and confirmation for a full shift.
- Freezer and cooler picking, where the -30 °C rating matches the Zebra WT6300 and the sealed microphone keeps working through condensation.
- Receiving and put-away, where hands are on cartons and a screen would have to be set down.
- Cycle counting and replenishment, where voice keeps the count moving without a device in hand.
- Multi-shift operations, where headsets are pooled and the replaceable pads matter as much as the electronics.
Where the HS3100 fits best
Freezer and cold-storage picking. The -30 °C rating is the reason most Voxware customers choose it. Paired with the Zebra WT6300, headset and computer share the same temperature range, so neither is the weak link.
Wash-down and wet areas. IP67 covers immersion, not just splashes, which matters in food and beverage operations where equipment gets hosed down between shifts.
Noisy ambient distribution centers. Conveyor, forklift and fan noise is what degrades recognition accuracy; the sealed noise-cancelling microphone is the part doing the work here.
All-Zebra floors. If your mobile computers, ring scanners and headsets are all Zebra, the HS3100 shares the tap-to-pair behaviour and management tooling with the rest of the fleet.
Where another certified headset may fit better: for sub -30 °C blast freezers look at the Trident ModCom 1 (-40 °C); for the longest battery life on an ambient floor, the Jabra Perform 75; and on a Honeywell fleet, the Honeywell SRX3.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Zebra HS3100 certified for Voxware VMS?
Yes. The Zebra HS3100 is on Voxware’s certified hardware list for the Voice Management System, alongside the Honeywell SRX3, Jabra Perform 75 and Trident ModCom 1. Certification means Voxware has tested the headset with VMS and supports it in production.
Can the HS3100 be used in a freezer?
Yes. The HS3100 operates from -30 °C to +50 °C, which is the same range as the Zebra WT6300 wearable computer, so the headset is not the limiting factor in a freezer deployment. For blast freezers colder than -30 °C, the Trident ModCom 1 is rated to -40 °C.
How long does the HS3100 battery last on a picking shift?
Zebra rates the 220 mAh battery at up to 15 hours of continuous speech, which covers a full shift for most operations. The battery is also hot-swappable without breaking the Bluetooth pairing, so a spare covers a double shift with no re-pairing and no interruption to the Voxware session.
Which mobile computers does the HS3100 work with?
The HS3100 pairs with Zebra enterprise mobile computers over Bluetooth, including the Voxware-certified WT6300 wearable and the TC-series handhelds. Pairing is a single NFC tap, or standard Bluetooth pairing if you prefer.
Does the HS3100 microphone work in a noisy warehouse?
That is what it is designed for. The sealed noise-cancelling microphone is rated at better than 10 dB of noise immunity and sits on a boom the picker positions at the corner of the mouth. Since Voxware runs speech recognition on the device, what reaches the microphone determines recognition accuracy, so microphone quality matters more on a voice system than on a phone headset.
Can one HS3100 be shared between shifts?
Yes, and it is designed for it. The ear pads, windscreens and headband pads are user-replaceable and the boom detaches, so each associate can be issued their own contact parts while the headset body stays in the pool.
Can the HS3100 be cleaned or disinfected?
It is sealed to IP67, which covers immersion rather than only splashes, so it tolerates wipe-downs and the wash-down routines common in food and beverage operations. Replaceable ear pads and windscreens handle the parts that touch the wearer.
Does the HS3100 support push-to-talk with Voxware?
Voxware VMS does not support push-to-talk. The HS3100 is used with Voxware purely as the voice interface for picking and other directed workflows: VMS speaks the assignment and the picker confirms out loud.
How does the HS3100 compare with the other Voxware-certified headsets?
The HS3100 is the natural choice on an all-Zebra fleet, because it shares tap-to-pair and management tooling with Zebra mobile computers and matches the WT6300’s -30 °C rating. The Trident ModCom 1 goes colder at -40 °C, the Jabra Perform 75 runs longer at up to 20 hours, and the Honeywell SRX3 fits a Honeywell fleet.
Do I need a specific headset to run Voxware?
No. Voxware certifies four headsets and runs on the voice hardware already in service in many operations. If you already have certified headsets deployed, Voxware uses them; there is no proprietary headset to buy.
