The Zebra WT6300 is a rugged, wrist-worn Android computer certified to run Voxware’s Voice Management System. Paired with a Voxware-certified headset and a Zebra Bluetooth ring scanner, it gives warehouse pickers a completely hands-free, eyes-up voice picking workstation built for the freezer: rated to -30 °C, hot-swappable batteries for long shifts, and because Voxware’s speech recognition runs on the device, picking continues even where Wi-Fi does not reach.

Why the WT6300 is built for voice picking

Most voice picking runs on a handheld computer clipped to a belt. That works, but the picker still reaches for the device to check a screen, confirm a quantity, or scan a barcode. The WT6300 removes that reach. It sits on the forearm, the headset does the talking and listening, and a ring scanner on the finger handles verification. The picker’s hands never leave the product.

Voxware VMS runs speech recognition on the device itself. The WT6300 loses Wi-Fi behind steel racking and inside freezer boxes like any radio does, but the picker does not notice: the Voxware client keeps directing and confirming picks locally, then syncs completed work back to your WMS when the connection returns. Nothing is lost and nobody stops.

Truly hands-free

Wrist-worn computer, Bluetooth headset, ring scanner. Both hands stay on the case, the tote, or the pallet jack.

Rated for the freezer

Operates from -30 °C to +50 °C with a freezer-rated 5,000 mAh battery, and it is drop-tested across that whole range.

Never power down mid-order

Hot-swappable standard (3,350 mAh) and extended (5,000 mAh) batteries change out in seconds without closing the Voxware client.

Android 14, supported by Voxware

Upgradeable to Android 14, which is the current ceiling for Voxware VMS support, so the device you deploy today stays on a supported OS.

Built for gloves and wet hands

The Gorilla Glass display detects gloves automatically and adjusts touch sensitivity. It also works when wet.

How the WT6300 is used with Voxware VMS

A typical Voxware deployment on the WT6300 looks like this: the picker straps the WT6300 to the forearm with Zebra’s micro-adjustable wrist mount, pairs a Zebra HS3100 Bluetooth headset and a Zebra RS5100 ring scanner with an NFC tap, and signs in to the Voxware client. VMS then speaks each assignment (location, item, quantity), the picker confirms by voice and scans to verify, and the transaction posts to the WMS in real time. Supervisors watch the shift on Voxware’s live KPI dashboards while it is still running.

Workflows Voxware customers run on the WT6300

  • Frozen and refrigerated picking for foodservice, grocery and cold-chain distributors, where handhelds and paper both fail.
  • Each and case picking in the freezer, where thousands of discrete pick decisions per shift make accuracy the whole game and every extra second in the cold costs.
  • Mixed-pallet and master-carton assembly, where the picker needs both hands to build a stable, route-sequenced pallet.
  • Replenishment, put-away and cycle counting alongside picking, so one wearable covers the full shift.
  • Truck loading and staging, where voice confirms the right pallet goes on the right door without a scanner in hand.
  • Windows CE migration: the optional keypad lets legacy key-driven screens carry over to Android without retraining the floor.

Where the WT6300 fits best

The WT6300 is a freezer device. That is the reason to choose it. Zebra rates it as the only wearable in its class for freezer use, with the extended battery rated to -30 °C and a drop-tested design across the full temperature range, where plastics on ordinary devices turn brittle. Voxware has run voice picking in frozen and refrigerated distribution for years, and the WT6300 is the wearable we recommend when the floor is below freezing.

Frozen food and foodservice distribution. Case and each picking in -20 °F freezer boxes, where gloves, condensation and cold-soaked batteries defeat handhelds and paper alike.

Cold-chain grocery, dairy and ice cream. Mixed-temperature routes that move between freezer, cooler and dock, where the picker cannot stop to swap devices or wait for a screen to recover.

Pharmaceutical and medical cold storage. Refrigerated and frozen picking where lot capture and scan verification matter as much as speed.

For ambient distribution centers the WT6300 still works, but you are paying for freezer ruggedization you do not need. For hands-free ambient picking look at the Zebra WS50; for screen-heavy workflows (long lookups, photos, signatures) a Voxware-certified handheld such as the Zebra TC53e or Zebra TC8300 is the better fit. Janitorial and sanitation, paper and disposables, and hospitality supply distributors usually land on one of those.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Zebra WT6300 certified for Voxware VMS?

Yes. The Zebra WT6300 is on Voxware’s certified hardware list for the Voice Management System, alongside the Zebra WS50, TC5x and TC7x series handhelds, and the TC8300. Certification means Voxware has tested the device with VMS and supports it in production.

Which Android versions does Voxware support on the WT6300?

Voxware VMS supports Android 8.1 (Oreo) through Android 14. The WT6300 shipped with Android 10 and is upgradeable to Android 14, so every OS version the device can run is a version Voxware supports.

Can the WT6300 be used in a freezer for voice picking?

Yes. The WT6300 operates from -30 °C to +50 °C, and the 5,000 mAh extended battery is specifically freezer rated. Zebra drop-tests the device across that whole temperature range, which matters because plastics get brittle in the cold. Voxware voice picking is already proven in frozen-food distribution.

Which headset should I use with the WT6300 and Voxware?

Voxware certifies four headsets: the Zebra HS3100 Bluetooth headset, Honeywell SRX3, Jabra Perform 75, and Trident ModCom 1. The HS3100 is the most common pairing with the WT6300 because it uses the same Zebra NFC tap-to-pair and battery ecosystem.

Which ring scanners work with the WT6300?

Voxware certifies the Zebra RS5100, RS6000 and RS6100 ring scanners. Zebra’s WT6300 documentation names the RS5100 and RS6000 as the Bluetooth options, which pair with an NFC tap; the newer RS6100 connects to the WT6300 through a corded adapter. Any of them lets a picker scan to verify an item or location, or capture GS1 lot-control and expiration data, without putting anything down.

Does voice picking on the WT6300 stop when Wi-Fi drops?

No. The radio does lose signal behind racking and inside freezer boxes, but Voxware runs speech recognition on the device, so the picker keeps receiving and confirming assignments through the dead zone. Completed transactions sync to the WMS when the connection returns. The WT6300’s 2×2 MU-MIMO radio and fast-roaming support also make those drops less frequent to begin with.

How long does a WT6300 battery last on a voice picking shift?

Run time depends on temperature, Wi-Fi, scan volume and screen use. In Voxware freezer deployments, expect roughly 6 to 8 hours from the standard 3,350 mAh battery and 8 to 12 hours from the freezer-rated 5,000 mAh extended battery. Both are hot-swappable: a picker can change a battery in the middle of an order without closing the Voxware client or logging out, so one spare covers a double shift.

Do I have to replace my WT6000 accessories to move to the WT6300?

No. Zebra designed the WT6300 to be backward compatible with WT6000 batteries, cradles, ring scanners, cables and headsets, so existing Voxware WT6000 sites can upgrade the computer alone.

Do I need to buy new hardware to run Voxware?

Not necessarily. Voxware runs on standard Android devices and on voice hardware already in service. If your WT6300s are in place, Voxware deploys onto them; there is no proprietary terminal to buy and no new system of record.

Is the WT6300 a good fit for new or seasonal pickers?

Yes. Voice walks a new associate through each pick step by step, and the wearable removes the handheld learning curve entirely. Voxware customers routinely train new pickers in hours rather than days, including in freezer operations.
